John 13:3 –

Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God….

Jesus knew who He was, and He was secure enough to get down on the floor and wash His disciples feet.  He didn’t have to prove anything.  In fact, He had nothing to prove, nothing to lose, and nothing to hide.  The insecure are into titles.  The secure are into towels.  Jesus’ security enabled Him to both stoop and stretch.

Proverbs 13:15 Good judgment wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful leads to their destruction.

This is so true!  If you think about being “unfaithful”…what generally happens?  Let’s see, well, if you are unfaithful to your job – you lose it, if you are an unfaithful student – you fail, if you are an unfaithful spouse – you lose a soul mate, if you are unfaithful to paying your bills – you become homeless.   Unfaithfulness leads to destruction.   Listen, being unfaithful is not the way to be, being unfaithful is not who God intended YOU to be.   Friends, unfaithfulness is ceasing to allow God to work in your life, and soon your unfaithfulness will turn to unbelief.   It is time to show good judgment and receive God’s favor in your life.  It has to be a way of life…a life filled with hope, opportunity, and eternity….not a life of destruction.

You choose!!!

Inside Out

Revelation 21:5  Then the One seated on the throne said, “Look!  I am making everything new.”

If we sincerely want to change ourselves for the better, we must start on the inside and work our way out from there.  Lasting change doesn’t occur “out there”; it occurs “in here.”  It occurs, not in the shifting sands of our own particular circumstances, but in the quiet depths of our own hearts.  Friends, are you in search of a new beginning or, a new you?  If so, don’t expect changing circumstances to miraculously transform you in the person you want to become.  Transformation starts with God.

Winning Favor

Galatians 1:10  For am I now trying to win the favor of people, or God?  Or am I striving to please people?  If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a slave of Christ.

Whom will you try to please today:  God or man?  Our primary obligation is not to please imperfect men and women.  Our obligation is to strive diligently to meet the expectations of an all-knowing and perfect God.  Listen, because we are imperfect human beings, we have tendencies to get wrapped up in trying to meet the demands of society; and we fail to focus on God’s expectations.  Friends, seek God’s guidance as you focus your energies on becoming the best “you” that you can possibly be.  Let us work as if we are working for the Lord.

Grace

John 13:1  Now, before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.

Christ-like servant leaders are motivated by love to serve others.  Jesus’ love was undeserved, unending, unconditional, and unselfish.  It was not the worthiness or the merits of the disciples that drove Jesus to serve them.  He wasn’t expressing gratitude but grace.  Love made Him serve His disciples.  Think about it; Jesus even washed the feet of Judas, the man who would betray Him and have Him killed the next day.  Friends, can you imagine a love like this?

Dark vs. Light

Dark verses light, the most basic and complete of oppositions. This concept can be applied to so many facets of life.  In the light there is energy.  In the dark there is a void. In the light all actions are transparent; there is nothing to hide.  In the dark actions can go undetected and be hidden.

Dark verses light, how could we appreciate the light if we did not know the dark?  As humans we are all sinners.  We have all spent time in the dark and have all wished to keep some of our actions there.  But what actions do we truly enjoy?  As a Christian I know I most enjoy that which is done in the light:  spending time with family, doing good for others, writing this short article, asking that the Lord use me to do His work and His will here on earth.

We are made in the Lord’s image but we are not controlled by His will. He has given us free will, so it is up to each of us, every action of every day, to decide how we want to spend it.

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” (2 Corinthians 13:14).
