Steve Hanson became a volunteer chaplain with Racers For Christ in 2004 which developed into a full-time position as the Southwest Region Director in 2009, which branched into Dirt Sport Ministry Director in 2012. Currently as Dirt Sport Ministry Director, Steve is responsible for overseeing all off-road ministries nationwide. In addition to chaplain duties, time permitting, Steve competes with Long Beach Racers in the local desert series namely MDR & MORE. His chaplain duties have taken him to hundreds of motorsport events; between desert racing, short-course off-road, rockcrawling, roundy-rounds, sand drags, and drag racing.
Following the 2009 Baja 1000 Steve married Danielle Magdaleno, a school teacher from Anaheim City School District. Since their covenant they have had three boys; twins Elijah & Isaiah born October 2010 and little brother Jeremiah born March 2012.
Danielle is a teacher and Steve raises his salary as a missionary chaplain to the dirt sports community through Racers For Christ. The donations that come in from their supporters may not seem like much to some onlookers, but the Hansons are very grateful for each and every gift. With three young children, every penny is stretched to the fullest to cover the necessities a family of five needs to survive including their household expenses and ministry expenses such as travel expenses, vehicle maintenance and healthcare.
