“Then He said to His disciples, ‘The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.’” Matthew 9:37
Jesus looked at the crowds and saw something His disciples could easily miss. He didn’t simply see a crowd of people, He saw a harvest.
There is a harvest all around us.
Every race weekend, we encounter people who are carrying burdens we may never see. Drivers, crew members, officials, families, volunteers, sponsors, and fans all have stories. Some are celebrating. Some are struggling. Some are searching for answers. Some may be closer to Jesus than they realize.
The question is not whether the harvest is there. The question is whether we are willing to enter it.
Jesus didn’t say, “The harvest is plentiful, so take a moment to appreciate it.” He said, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.”
There is a difference between seeing the harvest and working in the harvest.
Jesus calls us beyond observation. He calls us to participation.
For us, entering the harvest may look simple. It may be sitting beside someone in the pits and listening to their story. It may be praying with a family. It may be checking on a crew member who seems unusually quiet. It may be encouraging a child. It may be having a conversation over a cup of coffee. It may be showing up consistently enough that someone begins to trust us.
Sometimes entering the harvest means going where people are rather than waiting for them to come to us.
That is what makes ministry so powerful. We don’t just show up…We GO…We enter their world so that we can point them toward Jesus.
Maybe God has placed you at your track, or in your ministry position because there is someone there who needs you to enter their world…You were saved for someone else in mind.
The harvest doesn’t always look like a dramatic moment. Sometimes it looks like consistency.
So as you step into another race weekend, let’s not just see the harvest.
Let’s enter it.
The harvest is plentiful.
The need is real.
The opportunity is in front of us.
Today Matters
