In recent months, region 4 has been rocked with difficult circumstances. Since Jan 1, we have lost some very influential people – racers, track officials, and…FAMILY. I write this to you as a simple reminder that the racing community is truly a family, and that you are instrumental in bringing and keeping that family together.
I am reminded of what Paul penned for us in 1 Corinthians 12:25-26:
“That there may be no division in the body, but that the members have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.”
What Paul is reminding us of in chapter 12 is that the gifts that we each bring to the table is to build one another up and to care for one another. And in thinking about this, I have realized that the more involved we get with a racing or rodding community, the more that verse 26 really hits home for us. “If one member suffers, all suffer together…” when one of us hurts, we all hurt.
Initially, it is a heavy feeling, but then when you begin to realize that the Lord placed you within that community to help them understand the importance and power of coming together, the heaviness changes to a feeling of honor.
I want to encourage you that the motorsports community will look to you to not only help them, but to also remind them of the power of coming together. And as you bring them together, you will have more opportunities to share the message of hope that is found in a relationship with Jesus. And as you bring them together, encourage them to link up…There is nothing stronger than a body of people coming together, linked up arm and arm.
Let’s be honest…Each day brings challenges that are out of control, and we will never be able to explain why things happen. But we can always bring people together to remind them of the hope that we have in Jesus.
