Beloved do not imitate evil but imitate good. Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.
Thought:
By nature we are creatures of imitation. Children mimic the traits of their parents, and even later in life we are influenced by the habits of our friends. People naturally imitate, even if they don’t realize it or intend do. This is one reason why “lead by example” is such a powerful principle. It’s also why leaders can change the direction of a whole community…for better or worse.
Throughout his letters, John emphasizes that peoples actions reflect their heart. As you consider how you lead…Who are you imitating? As you lead your family, students, business, or church, where are you drawing your inspiration from? Who’s leading is leading you?
Lord, lead me. May I look to you for guidance and direction, and may I lead others as I follow YOUR example. In Jesus Name…Amen
