New Director

Introducing Lee Styer

Our New Region 7 Director

Rich Trimmer has retired from his role as Region 7 Director for Team RFC. Rich and his wife Teri served in this role since 2013. He leaves a big legacy in the NHRA racing community where he and Teri served. They will be missed, not only by us, but by the racing community.

Lee Styer has been chosen to take over the reins of Region 7 as the Director.

Lee Styer developed a love for racing through his dad Al, who built drag cars and raced them at Beeline Dragway in the 1970s. Lee was first introduced to Racers For Christ in 2016 when he attended a car show at his local church where met an RFC chaplain who encouraged him to serve the Lord in the motorsports community.  After prayerful consideration, Lee joined the RFC team a few months later as a chaplain.  God brought Lee full circle, placing him back at the dragstrip to serve the Lord within the ministry of Racers For Christ.  In his sixth year of chaplaincy, Lee was offered the opportunity to expand his ministry, growing and serving in a much larger role.  Having retired after a 30-year career with the Scottsdale (AZ) Unified School District at the beginning of 2022, he accepted the position of Southwest Region Director. Mary, his wife of 30 years, joined him in this exciting ministry in 2022.

Lee and Mary are very excited to see what God has next for them as they pursue this larger role in service to Him.

Why do you love motorsports ministry?

I grew up in the 70’s helping my Dad race dragsters at Beeline Dragway.  As time went on, God had brought me back full circle to be engaged in racing, but as His servant. I love being a part of this racing community where we all come together as family, to enjoy the sport that we all love.  The best part of this ministry is being with those we love and love to serve.

What is your favorite Bible Verse?

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.
Ephesians 2: 8-10 NASB1995
This passage speaks volumes to me on so many levels  There is a lot here that shows God’s love for us from justification to sanctification, giving us His blessings so that one day, we will all reach glorification through Him.

What is something unique about you?

I follow a long line of wood workers.  Both my father and grandfather were carpenters by trade.  The talents God gave me are artistic.  I love drawing, woodworking, sculpting basically anything that involves working with my hands.  I also love to write, and have written two books… yet to be published.

But my favorite gift that God gave me is the ability to talk to people.  I enjoy meeting with people for the first time and getting to know them.  I consider all who I meet as friends and family.
