CORONAVIRUS: Precautions, Prayer, and God’s Promises
To all of our employees, volunteers, ministry partners, board members, and everyone in the world of motorsports,
In the wake of the global Coronavirus pandemic, which has caused considerable unrest, sickness, and in some cases even death, it is our belief that we as Christians need to remember a couple of things. First, we should not ignore the health issues that surround us each and every day, including the Coronavirus; but secondly, we should not allow them to consume us with worry and fear. We are children of the one true God. He loves us and He listens to us. There are times when we can feel overwhelmed by the events going on around us – the virus spreading more and more each day, the stock market continuing to drop, events being cancelled, shortages of basic necessities, and the list goes on.
So, what should we do? Take the appropriate precautions that the CDC is suggesting. If you are prone to sickness or are over the age of 60, take extra care. For our chaplains and field staff, if you don’t feel comfortable being out in large crowds, and believe you may be more susceptible to contracting the Coronavirus or any illness, please feel free to contact us and let us know. But more importantly, I believe that instead of panic and worry, we should pray and seek God.
I am asking each of you to join our staff as we set aside time on Friday, March 13, to pray for the following:
- Healing for those afflicted by the Coronavirus
- Our health care workers and staff
- The men and women working to find a cure
- For peace and calm in the midst of crisis
- For the promoters of the races and car shows as they deal with these issues
- For our President and leaders – federal, state and local
- For the physical and spiritual healing of our country
- For God to work in and through each of us to share the hope we have in Jesus
As we are praying for each of these, here are a few scriptures to remind us of God’s promises.
“I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” – Psalm 34:4
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” – Philippians 4:6-7
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:6-7
“Then Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?’” – Luke 12:22-26
I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior,” – 1 Timothy 2:1-3
“Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” – James 5:13-16
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” – 2 Chronicles 7:14
We are so thankful for each of you and for your prayers and support of the ministry of Racers For Christ®. If you have any specific prayer requests that you would like to share with us, please let us know. You can fill out the prayer request form at the bottom of this page.
