No one is off-limits to the Gospel.  We have a great responsibility to share God’s Word.  Honestly, many years ago I struggled with this; it wasn’t that I was afraid, it was more that I didn’t want to mess it up.  I was critical of my words, partially because growing up I had a stutter.  My mindset changed when I realized how much of an honor it is to share God’s Word, not just a responsibility, but a great honor.  I would encourage you to consider the same…

There is a section from Luke that has been a big part of my journey, for two reasons.  1. I made excuses, 2. I have heard the excuses.  And that is the story of the great banquet from Luke 14:12-22.  In this we read of the invitation given to a great banquet…the Great Banquet.  The master is Jesus, the servants…that would be you and me.  The master sends out the servants to invite others to the feast, only to have three distinct excuses given, read with me from Luke 14:18-20:

18 But they all alike began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a field, and I must go out and see it. Please have me excused.’ 19 And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to examine them. Please have me excused.20 And another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.21 So the servant came and reported these things to his master.

Excuses were made…The Master continues encouraging the servants to go and invite as many as possible…and what the servant says has become an anthem for me.  Here is the mic drop moment that should be life changing for us…We see it in verse 22:

And the servant said, “Sir, what you commanded has been done, and still there is room.”

Listen, people will put all kinds of things before their relationship with Jesus…more importantly excuses will be made when the invitation is given.  However, we cannot give up on them, it is our job to make sure they know the truth, it is our job to the let them know that “Still there is room…”

Let me encourage you with this…When you are tired of the excuses, keep showing up and sharing.  Why???  Because there is still room…Plenty of room!  So, let’s follow the instruction from Acts 5:19-20, But during the night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said, ‘Go and stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of life.’

 Go – is faith

Stand – is authority

Speak – is boldness
