As I was reading 1 Corinthians 12, two words kept jumping off the page at me: “to another.” Paul is talking about spiritual gifts. To one person God gives this gift, “to another” He gives something different, and “to another” something else.
It reminded me of our team.
I am so thankful that God didn’t make all of us the same. We don’t all think alike. We don’t all lead alike. We don’t all connect with people the same way. Some of us are great at things that others struggle with, and I believe that is exactly how God designed it.
There are things you can do that I can’t do. There are people you can reach that I may never be able to reach. There are conversations you will have, needs you will notice, and opportunities God will put in front of you because He has uniquely equipped you for that moment.
Sometimes I think we can get caught up comparing ourselves to each other. But maybe instead of asking, “Why can’t I do what they do?” we should be saying, “Thank You, Lord, for giving that gift to another.”
I need you and we need each other.
Our ministry will never be about one person, one personality, or one gift. It takes all of us bringing what God has given us and laying it on the table for His purposes.
Don’t underestimate what God has given you. And don’t underestimate what God has given “to another.”
Celebrate each other. Encourage each other. Pray for each other. Help each other. Because when each of us faithfully uses what God has given us, we become the team God intended us to be.
