There are many things in my life that I have come to accept that I will never understand.  Maybe we are not meant to understand them.  But by nature, we are “fix it” people.  We immediately want to fix things because we think we have the answers.  If we take a page from the Bible, we will see that the wise kings, before responding, they inquired of the Lord FIRST.  If we consider King David…he inquired of the Lord nine times.  (1 Samuel 23:1-3, 1 Samuel 23:4-5, 1 Samuel 23:10-11, 1 Samuel 23:12-14, 1 Samuel 30:8-9, 2 Samuel 2:1-2, 2 Samuel 5:17-21, 2 Samuel 5:22-25, 2 Samuel 21:1)

But it is not just the inquiring part that we need to get better at, it is the patience for God’s response.  I have, many times reacted too quickly…without first inquiring of the Lord. At this point it is too late.  What I needed to do is seek His guidance first.

I, like many others across our country, am heartbroken over what happened to Charlie Kirk and other events that have taken place this week. While it pains our hearts, Charlie, like the drivers who strap into their race cars, knew the risk involved.  He counted the cost.  Biblically, Charlie knew that standing for the truth could ultimately lead to violent acts against him and his family, and yet he remained steadfast and focused.  He strapped in every day for the truth…Biblical truth.

The response I have seen from this, from many Christians breaks my heart.  They are in the “react” mode of their response.  They are pushing “post” without first inquiring of the Lord.  They are possibly causing others to stumble…And as a Christ-follower, we are told to do nothing that would cause someone to stumble (Romans 14:13).  These are things that put us under a microscope even more so than before.  How we respond is critical.

Will you be challenged by others from this? Absolutely.  Will your faith be challenged and tested? Yes.  Please understand this, your response can lead someone to the cross or it can lead someone astray.  Inquire of Lord…Ask Him to help you respond in such a way that will ultimately glorify Him.  Before you push, “post” and lash out on someone…read it again.  I am not asking you to be silent, I am simply encouraging you to inquire of the Lord before reacting and responding.

Remember that your voice is significant and your ministry is important. It is time that we stand up and be bold, but it is also a time to seek the guidance of the Lord and in that guidance your voice and your ministry will strengthen and become more powerful.
